Why Maintaining Normal Blood Sugar Levels is Important

This is a well-known fact that any deterioration in the normal blood sugar values will lead to some medical complications like Hyperglycemia when they increase and hypoglycemia when they decrease. For years, we have known that increased blood sugar levels above normal will lead to diabetes mellitus and some grievance diseases as well when the blood sugar levels are decreased below normal then it will again lead to some critical complications. These are known facts and to some extent, you might know the reasons of heart attacks and kidney damages being overplayed on increased sugar levels. However, what you might have never heard is, post meal blood sugar levels above 140mg/dL and higher and fasting blood sugar levels above 100mg/dL causes permanent organ damage as well increases the severity of diabetes.

Looking at the several studies and research papers submitted by some of the brilliant physicians who either accidently or intentionally found out the shocking revelations backed by the proofs they have possessed in their scientific findings. In University of Utah, the potential cause of peripheral neuropathy wherein nerve damage occurs causing pain tingling needles and pins and burning sensation in the hands and feet of unknown origin reported by many patients. While studying the cause Neurologists in the university found out those patients unknown to diabetes although registered 140mg/dL or higher blood sugar levels from the sample taken after two hours of meal were having much known form of diabetic neuropathy compared to those having normal blood sugar levels.

The same facts were later backed by the further research carried out by neurologists at John Hopkins and further illustrated that patients having neuropathy of unknown origin were having abnormal results on their oral glucose tolerance tests. Results at John Hopkins also showed that patients having impaired glucose tolerance had experienced damage to their small nerve fibers while those with diabetic level test results had more involvement of large nerve fibers.

However to eradicate the possibilities of nerve damage having above normal blood sugar levels is simply to manage and bring down the blood sugar levels below 140mg.dL with the use of diabetes medication and insulin. Dr Krinsley has achieved fabulous results with this therapy and further has decreased the incidents of kidney failure as well preventing their elongated stays in ICU. Although there are still some grievance incidents of increased blood sugar, levels like beta cell destructions, kidney damages and correlation of markers of cardiovascular diseases.
